SOMETHING TO CHEERS TO
HE GOT THE JOB
A new study shows that having a few drinks a week might actually be good for you.
The American College of Cardiology found health benefits for men who consumed up to 14 drinks a week. For women the number was 7.
It could be that alcohol helped thin the blood and reduce inflammation.
But doctors warn that drinking heavily and alcoholism can have dire health consequences including cardiac disease and cancer.
WEDDING RING FOUND IN A DESERT
A teenager who got caught allegedly trying to shoplift a dress shirt, a pair of socks, and tie for an interview got the job.
But he owes a lot to a kind-hearted Toronto police officer who decided not to arrest the teen. Instead, Constable Niran Jeyanesan chose to use his own money to buy clothes for the desperate teen.
The teen called the officer to let him know the news.
He started the job Monday.
FISHERMEN SAVE DOLPHINS
A woman in Australia hit the jackpot. But it wasn’t the lottery. Instead, someone found her wedding ring in the middle of the Simpson desert and she’s about to get it back.
Elizabeth Docherty lost her ring in a sand dune months ago while vacationing in a desert bigger than New York State. She thought the ring was lost for good until a family member saw a Facebook post looking for the ring’s owner.
Docherty says she cried for three minutes when she first saw the post. Police say she’ll have to verify the ring is hers before she can pick it up.
SHOW OF SOLIDARITY IN LONDON AFTER ATTACK
Call it 'drama on the high seas.' A crew of a fishing trawler was working off the coast of Tauranga, New Zealand, when a group of five dolphins swam into their net. Nearby recreational boaters watched the drama unfold as the crew struggled to free the dolphins.
BOY BONDS WITH DOG OVER SKIN DISORDER
Where there is tragedy, there is hope. That was a message sent by a group of Muslim women in London. They held hands, forming a line across Westminster Bridge in London. It's the same bridge where a lone terrorist plowed into people on his way to attack the British Parliament.
Like many kids and pets, 8-year-old Carter Blanchard and one black lab, named Rowdy, have a special bond. But their bond is over a rare skin condition. Both have vitiligo which destroys pigment in the skin causing white patches.
